I spent a quiet New Years at a friends marathoning the extended LOTR movies.
I got a new laptop on Boxing Day so have been enjoying the freedom of not being plugged into the wall at all times, a working keyboard and the joys of watching youtube videos without crashing lol.
The family Xmas gift was to see Cirque du Soleil's traveling show which is currently in Vancouver. No one in my family had ever seen a show of theirs before and it did not disappoint! Extremely talented people and such a wonderfully enjoyable show.
I don't have much to recap in regards to 2012 and my hobby. I only attended a few events, main ones being: Sakura Con, Fan Expo and Fanime. Fanime definitely was my favourite by being apart of NOTN's Kuroshitsuji Circus skit.

Outside of cosplay; I can easily say the first half of 2012 was probably the worst time of my life. Not because of particular events - as Ive definitely been through more in previous years - but in terms of my health and how I was feeling. I felt incredibly alone, weak and severely depressed experiencing bad anxiety and not knowing what it was or how to cope with it. I knew something needed to change and so I took medical leave from work. Since Ive been off work Ive gradually gotten into a better state of mind and I can definitely say the second half of the year was far better. I feel a lot more like myself, less bitter and looking forward to the future. Still not overly happy about where I am with life, but its a work in progress
In fall of 2012 I made progress towards my goal career of Voice Over by getting my first professional gig as a VO actor in the game "The Bowling Dead" by Slant Six Games:
Available to download (for free!) on ios products ^^
Ive been working on my demo, which should be completed soon and looking forward to continuing the pursuit of achieving my goals and working in the industry.
A lot of my focus is now centered around "real life". Pursuing my career ambitions, getting back out on my own and hopefully adding a dog family member into my life once Im financially stable.
I still love going to conventions and cosplay but I feel like this hiatus has allowed me to step back and figure out a good balance that will work for me.
That being said, the only event I've really thought about thus far for 2013 is Vancouver's Fan Expo in April. The guest list looks incredible this year.
One of my best friends who is incredibly crafty and creative (but not a cosplayer) has said she would cosplay with me for years (if I make the outfit lol) but we never got around to it; the plan is set for Fan Expo as its a nice local event. I'm still high on Wreck-it Ralph and we have a great height difference so the game plan is to cosplay these two:
